{"id":255,"date":"2026-07-06T20:40:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T20:40:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/americanhousingtransition.com\/?p=255"},"modified":"2026-07-06T20:40:35","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T20:40:35","slug":"graham-platner-reflecting-on-path-forward-after-latest-bombshell-sexual-assault-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/americanhousingtransition.com\/?p=255","title":{"rendered":"Graham Platner Reflecting on \u2018Path Forward\u2019 After Latest Bombshell Sexual Assault Allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>Graham Platner, the scandal-plagued progressive military veteran, said Monday he is reflecting on the best path forward for his Maine Senate campaign after another allegation of sexual misconduct was raised against the troubled Democrat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanhousingtransition.com\/?p=253\">Smithsonian American History Museum Embraced \u2018Extreme Political Activism,\u2019 White House Report Says<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Platner\u2019s announcement comes after he canceled several events over the July 4 weekend as rumors spread that a \u201cvery damaging allegation\u201d would be coming out against the controversial candidate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On Monday,\u00a0<em>Politico\u00a0<\/em>reported on allegations made by Platner\u2019s former girlfriend that he \u201cforced her to have sex with him nearly five years ago despite her repeated objections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jenny Racicot told the outlet she had an on-and-off relationship with Platner for more than two years when he entered her home in Maine uninvited in late June 2021 \u201cdeeply intoxicated\u201d and \u201cforced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop.\u201d The report says she cut off contact with Platner after telling him the encounter was not consensual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me,\u201d she said. \u201cI remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, \u2018This is no longer my choice.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a video statement on Monday, Platner called the allegations \u201ccategorically false,\u201d but said his campaign is \u201ctaking the time to reflect on the best path forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou never turned your back on me, and I will not turn my back on you now,\u201d he told his supporters.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations follow several other scandals involving the political newcomer, including other allegations of sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanhousingtransition.com\/?p=251\">The Media\u2019s Not-So-Happy Fourth of July<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Racicot previously told the\u00a0<em>New York Times\u00a0<\/em>that she had seen Platner engage in \u201creckless\u201d and \u201cunsettling behavior.\u201d She now tells <em>Politico\u00a0<\/em>she did not previously share the sexual assault allegation because she did not want to be seen as a rape victim. However, after much of the attention around the <em>Times\u00a0<\/em>article centered on allegations made by another woman, Lyndsey Fifield, which were dismissed by Platner because of her ties to the GOP, Racicot said she felt the need to come forward with her full story.<\/p>\n<p>Platner\u2019s campaign has been plagued by scandals since October, when CNN\u00a0<span>and several other outlets uncovered Platner\u2019s past Reddit posts and comments, which included offensive comments about police and sexual assault survivors.
