Swatting refers to the practice of making false emergency calls to draw a heavy police response.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe call was received through the department\u2019s non-emergency line,\u201d the statement adds. \u201cOfficers immediately coordinated with Supreme Court Police personnel assigned to the residence and quickly determined that the report was fictitious. No additional police resources were utilized.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The incident was first reported by freelance reporter Andrew Leyden, who shared police audio that indicates police were called to the residence for the sound of gunshots.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Police responded to a call for the sound of gunshots at the home of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett last night, but quickly realized it was a swatting call and cleared after meeting with her security detail. This is partial police audio, redacted pursuant to media\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/fKKSTAVR6F<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrew Leyden (@PenguinSix) May 28, 2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the audio clip, the dispatcher advises units responding to a \u201csuspicious noise\u201d that dispatchers have not been able to get an answer on callback to the complainant\u2019s phone number. \u201cUnknown if it\u2019s going to be a swatting situation,\u201d the dispatcher adds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSwatting,\u201d or falsely reporting violent activity at the residence of a targeted individual, has become a popular tactic used by individuals looking to harm a public figure or create a dangerous disruption at their home. The tactic has been used against dozens of members of Congress as well as many celebrities.<\/p>\n<p>The police have not yet announced the arrest of a suspect.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court did not respond to a request for comment from <span>National Review<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span>Justice Barrett and other conservatives on the Supreme Court have previously been targeted by leftist protesters and advocacy groups, including most notably in June 2022, in the lead up to, and the aftermath of, the Court\u2019s <\/span><i><span>Dobbs <\/span><\/i><span>decision, which overturned\u00a0<em>Roe v. Wade.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At that time, protesters gathered outside Barrett\u2019s home, <\/span><span>where she lives with her husband and seven children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanhousingtransition.com\/?p=95\">DOJ Sues UC Regents over \u2018Deliberate Indifference\u2019 Toward Antisemitism at UCLA<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>The protest occurred after leftist group Ruth Sent Us, along with Vigil for Democracy, created a Google Maps graphic called \u201cExtremist Justices,\u201d pinning what it claimed were the home addresses of Justices Barrett, Kavanaugh, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Roberts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also in June 2022, after the leak of a\u00a0<em>Dobbs\u00a0<\/em>draft opinion, a California man attempted to assassinate Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh. Nicholas John Roske, who has since been sentenced to eight years in prison for the crime, was detained by police outside Kavanaugh\u2019s home in Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>Roske called 911 himself because he was having suicidal thoughts. He told a dispatcher he had come \u201cfrom California to kill a specific\u201d Supreme Court justice, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Chief Justice John Roberts sought to change how the public perceives the Court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think at a very basic level, people think we\u2019re making policy decisions, [that] we\u2019re saying we think this is what things should be as opposed to this is what the law provides,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cI think they view us as truly political actors, which I don\u2019t think is an accurate understanding of what we do.
