Alleged Charlie Kirk Assassin’s Trans Partner Told Investigators He Admitted Guilt, Expressed Regret After Shooting

The transgender-identifying former romantic partner of Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, says the alleged killer took responsibility for the shooting and said he regretted what he had done in a conversation one day after the attack.

The revelation came in a video interview investigators conducted with Robinson on April 20 that was played in court for the first time on Thursday, on the fourth day of a preliminary hearing in Robinson’s case.

Lance Twiggs testified that Robinson was acting “erratically” after the killing. He said Robinson “didn’t go into detail” about the attack.

“I just asked him in person if what he said was true the night before and he said it was,” Twiggs said. “He started crying a little bit and said he wishes he hadn’t done it and then kept going around and just doing stuff, I think to keep himself busy or distracted.”

Robinson also apparently said he planned to talk to his parents or turn himself into authorities as his next step, according to the testimony.

Twiggs also said he saw Robinson engraving the bullets that would later be used in the attack.

“I don’t remember exactly when, but he had said he was planning to go hunting with his family and he asked me… if we had a Dremel, because he said he wanted to engrave messages on bullets,” Twiggs said.

“Hey fascist, catch,” read the engraving on one round. Another round was engraved with the message “Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao,” a reference to a song favored by resistance movements and revolutionary anti-capitalist partisans.

Additionally, the spent casing that killed Kirk was engraved with “Notices bulge OwO what’s this?” The phrase appears to come from an old internet meme that is popular in online “furry” communities, which are made up of users who have a sexual fetish related to furry animals.

Robinson’s attorneys had fought to keep the court from seeing the video of Twiggs, a biological man who identifies as a transgender woman and who was Robinson’s live-in romantic partner at the time of the murder, but attorneys representing media outlets and Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, successfully fought for the footage to be presented.

Twiggs has been granted “use-immunity” for the interview, which means it can’t be used against Twiggs in any future prosecution.

Prosecutors had previously revealed that Twiggs told authorities that Robinson confessed to killing Kirk, hiding the murder weapon, and throwing away his clothes.

In previously-released text messages, Robinson told Twiggs that he had “had enough of” Kirk’s “hatred.”

Robinson also instructed Twiggs to read a note he had left under his keyboard in which he admitted to the assassination.“I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it,” the note read.

Robinson explained to Twiggs that he felt compelled to kill Kirk to stop the conservative activist from spreading “hate.”

“I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out,” Robinson wrote. Robinson also further confessed when pressed by Twiggs. Twiggs asked “you weren’t the one who did it, right????” and Robinson responded, “I am, I’m sorry.”

Robinson’s mom told law enforcement that he had become more political and had started to lean more to the left, “becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented,” according to Utah County District Attorney Jeffrey Gray.

However, Twiggs said in the video interview that Robinson rarely spoke about LGBT issues and was more interested in Trump and his policies.

Robinson is facing multiple charges, including aggravated murder, discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, tampering with a witness and violence committed in the presence of a child. Prosecutors have indicated they will seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted on the murder charge.
